Set your window first
Choose feasible departure and return dates, then compare using the same currency and passenger count. Include length of stay: a different departure day can add a hotel night.
Previous fares are a starting point
Cached fare data shows prices other travellers found. Use it to choose dates worth checking, then confirm price and availability with the booking provider. No cached fare does not mean no flights.
Compare nearby airports
Try an alternative airport when the transfer is practical and include transport cost and travel time. Check arrival and departure hours; arriving after public transport ends changes the calculation.
Choose for your needs
Balance the fare with journey time and change conditions. Availability changes prices; a claim that a fixed weekday always guarantees the cheapest ticket needs evidence specific to your route and dates.
Set the limits of flexibility first
Choose the days you can actually leave and the maximum trip length before reviewing the calendar. A lower weekday fare may offer little value if it needs extra leave or accommodation. Record both departure and return dates for each option, and compare the number of nights you will pay for.
Read empty days correctly
The calendar presents cached fares returned by the data source; it may not cover every day or airline. An empty day does not mean there are no flights. The lowest highlighted fare is the lowest in the displayed response. Use it to choose dates worth a full provider search with settings suitable for your trip.
